Databases vs Websites
Library databases are basically a digital way of storing encyclopedia, magazine, and newspaper articles--plus lots of other good stuff. Before you head to Google, take a look at this:
| Library Databases | Websites |
| Info is authored by experts | Info is authored by anyone |
| Contain published works where facts are checked | Content is not necessarily fact-checked |
| Purpose: for students doing research | Purpose: many different reasons |
| Available to anyone with a library card | Available to anyone |
| Easy to cite and even may create the citation for you | You must piece together the citation |
| Teachers encourage you to use | Teachers warn you against |
